Beautiful Heart Blog Award

I was blessed to have received this award from a favorite blog of mine, J-Kaye's book blog. I am happy enough to know that someone like J-Kaye actually take the time to read my blog let alone award me with such an award. Thank you J-Kaye!!! Furthermore I just wanted to let J-Kaye know that if I could send the award back to her I would as she's definitely got a "Beautiful Heart" and certainly deserves the award a few times over.

I would also like to pass the award onto:-

Urban Grace Interior Photo Contest

Erika from Urban Grace Interiors had a Doggie Photo Contest which I entered my beautiful furbaby in (sent the two pics above) and although we unfortunately didn't win there were heaps of cute and very much deserving entrants, even I, who is quite bias to my little one couldn't pick a winner.

Erika and her team wonderfully collaborated this beautiful slideshow to show all the pics that were entered for the competition, please do view it as it will fill you with laughter and tears. I tried to post a pic of the winning furbaby but Blogger would not allow so please check him out here, there are also pics of special mentions/runner ups.

Please also stay tuned as I will be doing a write up soon on Urban Grace Interiors, it's one of my "read it in it's entirety blog".

Absolutely Beautiful Things

It's been such a long time since I wrote about a blog that I've read from start to finish. To be honest I was a bit discouraged from not receiving replies from my emails of good wishes...

Since then I've read many wonderful blogs and will hopefully be able to write about it all. Today's write up is "Absolutely Beautiful Things" aka ABT  created by Brisbane based Interior Designer and shop owner to "Black & Spiro", Anna Spiro. I've previously introduced her work in my Wing Chair post as my inspiration were from Anna's work. She is quite infamous for those quirky and bright re-upholstery and yet somehow it still fits the classic, antique pieces that she puts them with.

ABT does not consist of just home decors and furnishings but lots of other wonderful things too including a series of "Absolutely Favourite Things" that she has created in collaboration with other wonderful and creative people on the world wide web, so please check her blog out, it truly is inspirational. For Australian readers, you will be proud to see that such wonderful talent also exists locally. Many of the blogs I read are from American Interior Designers, but I'm proud and thrilled to say that Anna comes up to par with many of the other well known Interior Designers from across the globe, so please check it out and enjoy!

Edit:- I just wanted to edit my post because I realised that I did not make it clear that Anna, was one of the few blog writers that actually responded to my email when I first completed reading her entire blog and once again  now in the comment section of this post. I am extremely inspired by wonderful people like Anna because despite her busy life she has still taken time out to reply to my initial email and now to leave a comment on this post. Thanks Anna and keep up the great work, I for one enjoy your blog tremendously.

Sippycups are for Chardonnay...first blog!

Sippycups are for Chardonnay has been mentioned in my blog a few times. As promised, I'm going to write about each of the blogs that I've enjoyed. This is the very first blog that I felt inclined to read from start (archive) to finish (present/current) and then re-read some more. The writer describes her blog as;-

"Musings of a 30 something stay at home Mom, former stationer, hospital widow, Martha Stewart/barefoot contessa wannabe."

The writer is a Doctor's wife, a Mother of two young children and a witty woman who is not scared to speak her mind. I adore her honesty with all things that she encounters, she is truthful with her experiences and does not try to simplify nor beautify things that were just plain annoying, I love the way she decorates her home, the effort she places on every celebration, most especially her children's birthday parties and just the entire blog has enjoyable posts about her life.

Photos below are the daughter's nursery in their previous home, which the Doc's wife designed on her own. I love the color scheme and the feature wall with the use of a different wallpaper. I appreciate the fact that it's classic, not too childish and still whimsical enough for a child. I adore the individual lettering hung with pink ribbon to spell out "Baby Girl's" (Daughter) name.

The Rauths

The Rauths, found through Sippycups are for Chardonnay's blogroll, is the second blog that I read from start to present. Being quite a new blog (since June) I re-read this blog several times. Like Sippycups are for Chardonnay, this is a personal blog. The writer's (Mrs Rauths) first post  was a great introduction to who she is and beautifully put too:-

"I'm a wife, striving to "let" [my] speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, "living each day with an attitude of gratitude, enjoying the simple pleasures all around and appreciating God's grace. This is my journey through the joys and challenges of living consciously everyday.

I treasure hand-written notes (giving and receiving) and I love you scribbles. I believe a fair argument can only bring my husband and I closer. I eat peanut butter and jelly on whole wheat bread everyday. The sun, a smile and a song changes my mood. Emptying the garbage bag and replacing a light bulb makes me cringe. Please, thank you and yes ma'am are the oxygen of kindness. Sherbet ice cream makes everything better.

Let the journey begin..."

What a beautiful introduction and I cannot wait to see what is yet to come. I appreciate The Rauths blog as I feel I have certain things in common with Mrs Rauth, including browsing for adorable baby items without an actual baby to buy for. An example of a beautiful image found in The Rauths blog.

Toast to my Blog

I haven't been writing much on my blog, the truth is that I have been feeling quite inadequate about this lil blog of mine, as I've been glued to my Macbook reading other people's blogs. I've been so entertained that I've read a few from Archive to present, then re-read some! Whilst these newly-found blogs are so beautiful to read it left me feeling inadequate about my own blog. With such beautiful and creative blogs around in the mass why would anyone want to read mine?

Putting all negativity aside I've decided this blog was never meant for readers alone, it was meant to be for me and my family and friends and yes for those that may find what I write about interesting enough, but I'm doing what I love and that's all that matters. I love writing and I certainly love blogs as I've recently discovered, so here's to my blog, whether it has one reader and writer combined or maybe one day another individual reader.

Recommend me some blogs!!!

As per my previous post, I had started to read Sippycups are for Chardonnay, a blog written by a SAHM (Stay at Home Mum), wife of a Doctor, previous Stationer and her posts range from her children, events she co-ordinates, improvements she makes in her home, bargains she finds in the shops and everything else in between.

To be honest I'm quite surprised because we don't really have much in common and yet I thoroughly enjoyed her blog, so much so that I've read the entire blog...yes from archives to current posting. I'm yet to write her a note to let her know how much I enjoy her blog. Anyhow, now that I've finished reading her blog and just receiving posts as she writes them I would love to hear some recommendations on blogs that you enjoy. Looking forward to reading some fascinating and interesting blogs.

Inspirational Boards

I just found a wonderful blog; Sippycups are for Chardonnay. Don't you just love the title of her blog? I wish I could have that much creativity to think of a title like that! She has created a Martha Stewart style blog and I love the contents. However, the main thing that has jumped out to me are these inspirational boards...aren't they great! These are like a brainstorming board, where you put all different things that come to mind together, or you can just use it as a scrapbooking. You can do it with different color schemes and for different ocassions from weddings to baby shower etc.
