The 15 Day Book Blogger Challenge is created by April at Good Books and Good Wine. Daily for the duration of 15 days each blogger participating will post their reply to the corresponding topic above. April will post up her daily response along with a linky so that participating bloggers can leave their own link to their daily post. Click on the event banner or link above for more information or to sign-up.

Here's my Book Blogger Challenge Responses:

Day 9 ~ Why do I blog about books?

  • I'm a Book Lover
  • Communicating with Authors - I love that I'm able to communicate with Authors and they actually communicate back and are willing to do interviews with me, I feel like I'm speaking to celebrities!!!
  • Book Blogging Community - As most of my friends aren't book lovers I love the fact that I can talk about books with the other book bloggers.
  • ARC/Netgalley - I love the opportunity of being able to read and review books before they are released/published.
  • Book Blogging Events - Memes, Read-a-thons, Challenges, Hops, Tours etc. I love being able to participate in these events, and whilst I understand that being a book blogger is not a necessity for some of these events, some such as the Spring Blog Carnival and the Cover Madness Giveaway Hop are book blogging related, so these are opportunities that have opened up to me since I've become a book blogger.
  • Insider Info - Upcoming Book Releases, Trivia/Background on yet to be released books, Special Author events etc. These aren't private information or exclusive to book bloggers but because I'm part of a huge book blogging community I somehow gain these information more easily than if I wasn't.

I'm totally shellshocked still when dealing with authors. I got a tweet the other day for a fairly well-known author and I felt like I just talked to some A-list actor.

It is kind of cool to get the insider scoop. It's like we're working for TMZ, heh. Plus, it is somewhat more affordable to read so many books in a year when half are given for free by the authors/publishers. If I wasn't blogging, I don't think I could afford 150 books...well, unless I decided to wear out the plastic of my library card.

I LOVE that blogging has enabled me to interact with authors! They used to be some person writing in a huge white tower in my mind and now they're actual living, breathing people :)
And it's so nice to be able to share your thoughts with other readers who love books as much as you do!
I really enjoy blogging events as well, I particularly love Dewey's 24 hour read-a-thon, have you ever participated?

I LOVE communicating with authors too. I still get goosebumps when some of my favorites comment back to me on Twitter or something lol These rest are great reasons to blog about books as well!

Great post!
