Top Ten Tuesday #18 ~ Words/Topics that will make me pick up or buy a book

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish

Top Ten Words/Topics that will make me pick up or buy a book!

1. Any books by my favourite Authors

2. Box Sets ~ I adore box sets! There are even unread series' that I bought box sets for that are in my TBR pile. If it's been recommended within the genre I enjoy, I buy a box set for it, if I don't already have the books…sometimes if they are a favourite series, I'll buy a box set for it even though I've already got the complete singles…I know terrible waste of money :(

3. Sale ~ I just can't go past a sale in books! Some books I probably wouldn't have bought if they weren't on sale but they are always from good YA Authors.

4. Beautiful Covers ~ I'm a sucker for beautiful covers, mostly covers with girls in pretty dresses.

5. Witches ~ Recently I've been loving books with witches eg. Jessica Spotswood's Born Wicked.

6. Boarding Schools ~ I just enjoy books set in Boarding Schools and Prep Academies eg. Vampire Academy, Harry Potter etc. there's just something about boarding school life that excites me and I've always wanted to go to one.

7. Dystopian ~ I'm a sucker for dystopian novels ever since Divergent by Veronica Roth.

8. Road Trips/Travel ~ I love travelling so I love to read stories about others' travel experience even though their only fictional characters.

9. Summer Reads ~ Anything with the word "Summer" I normally enjoy eg. Boys of Summer by CJ Duggan.

10. Venice ~ Love Venice! I love the canals and all the romantic setting. I especially love Fiona Paul's description of Venice in Venom.

I keep saying boarding schools on people's lists and I'm jealous I didn't think to include that ;) Great list!

Great reasons to pick up a book! I'm answering, too, using yours as a response kind of thing! :) P.S. I won that Momiji doll on my birthday and it arrived today and is SO DARLING! Thank you!

1. Any books by my favourite Authors (agreed!)

2. Box Sets ~ (agreed! and I would say omnibus editions, too. I prefer it. This waiting thing between books in a series is KILLING ME)

3. Sale ~ agreed! And the freebies on amazon.com for my kindle in the genres I like...I have far too many books between that and netgalley that I NEED to read. lol

4. Beautiful Covers ~ Agreed for hard copy books! It's what I miss when reading on a kindle; I like to flip to the cover when reading and see if it matches what's in my head. No can do on the kindle!

5. Witches ~ YES! Love witch books. Have you read A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness?

6. Boarding Schools ~ I went to one, so I'm a sucker for this, too.

7. Dystopian ~ Ehhhh this one not so much. I think I've OD'ed on dystopian now.

8. Road Trips/Travel ~ not so much on this one either; I get jealous that it isn't me traveling!

9. Summer Reads ~ only for the summer. I expect those books to be lighter, fun reads!

10. Venice ~ Nope, although I don't discount them. I don't have a set place I want to read about just yet, but I do love it when it's not set "at home"!

Boarding schools topped my list, too. They are almost always good. I also love summer and witch books. And who doesn't love a good sale? Great list!

Sale is such a good one, I didn't even think of it!

Sales and beautiful covers. I'm such a sucker for a good looking cover too!!!And Books are never a waste of money! (in our own minds) I do the same thing. If a publisher redoes the covers to a series half way through, I feel obligated to make them match. so i'll end up with multiple copies of the same book. I call it book OCD. lol! Great list love!! It is NOT a terrible waste of money. You can never have enough copies of certain books :) I collect cool editions of Jane Austen titles.

Ha ha! I love your take on the list. I didn't even think of it that way. Sales are great! I buy so many books that way!

If you like boarding schools, did you read The Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray? I picked up the first one by accident while taking a YA lit course in college, and I ended up falling in love with the series.

I love boarding schools too! As for zombie books (you had asked me for recs on my TTT), you should read The Enemy series by Charlie Higson if you haven't. One of my favorites!

I love book sales too! Getting books dirt cheap is the best. :)And yes to boarding schools, witches, road trips, and dystopian lit! They all usually make for great reads. :D

Angelica I would have to agree with a lot of words topics you mentioned. Gorgeous covers are always my weak point, normally I can grab a book without reading the back. Also Summer reads and road trip books I always love too! Great list Angelica! :)

BOX SET ARE THE BEST. I LOVE THEM. And road trip books. Gotta have them. GOTTA HAVE THEM. You make a good point about your favorite author. A last name can DEFINITELY be a buzzword!

I love your choice for sale books. It is true that I buy books easier when they are on sale.

Oh, summer reads are a definite! I never thought about box sets, but that's probably because I definitely don't have money for them, haha!

You're probably the third or fourth person to put boarding schools on their list. It's funny. I was just talking to someone about this, how there are a bunch of books out there right now (both fantasy and non-fantasy) that have to do with characters going to boarding school. Funny.

And yes - I will almost always go for something on sale. It doesn't even have to be a book! LOL

yessssssss to boarding schools!! I love those.

Also you are so smart to include "box sets"-- I have absolutely bought books for pretty covers (even when I already had another edition of the book) or box sets that match because my copies of a series didn't totally match!

I justify it by saying that I can lend out my mismatched or "uglier" copies and keep the pretty ones pristine in my library. ;)

First of all your blog is SO CUTE. I've been working on a whole new layout for mine that revolves around a particular Disney princess lol. Not sure if I'll change it yet or not. ANYWAY.

Don't feel bad about #1 and the whole money wasting thing. I'm bad like that when it comes to books. In that area I will buy both ebooks and physical copies if I really like them. Throw in box sets if I didn't already get them and..you get the idea lol

Your whole list is great! Agree with all of them :) Thanks for stopping by my TTT! New follower!

Great list you have here!!! Beautiful covers... I'm a sucker for those as well. And boxed sets. It's amazing how much money we will waste on those (I use that loosely, of course) when we already own the singles. lol Favorite authors and sales... definitely! :)
