Review
Fateful is another terrific book from the author of the Evernight series, Claudia Gray. The book just grabbed your attention from the very beginning, and it just had you hooked right to the very last page. It's fast-paced, well-written and just a beautiful book as it combined the historical aspects of the Titanic, added with paranormal young adult romance and this book just had it all!

Tess is a ladies servant working for the Lisle family, the eve of her boarding the Titanic, on her way to running an errand she encounters a very strange scenario that had her questioning all that she knew about the world she lived in. She also meets the dashing, despite somewhat being reluctant hero, Alec Marlowe.

Tess boards with the family she serves on the Titanic the following day only to find that her torturer from the day before along with her hero are also aboard the ship. Determined to stay out of trouble, she focuses on doing her job well...after all she doesn't plan to be in service to the Lisles for much longer. Tess strives to leave the family upon docking at New York City to begin a new life for herself.

However, a bunch of strange things begin happening to Tess and she soon discovers a range of secrets, romance and danger within the ship. The story follows Tess as she slowly deciphers the secrets aboard the Titanic and by doing so she falls in love with Alec, the son of a steel entrepreneur. However, their love affair is obstructed by more issues rather than just the class difference between them.

This book is amazing and I devoured it every minute I got. Tess was an amazing protagonist, she was truthful, heroic and a sweet girl. Alec was the perfect gentleman and hero and I was very impressed with his attitude. There are many other secondary characters that made this story whole, including Myriam, Tess' cabin room mate, and Lady Irene, the Lady that Tess serves. I enjoyed Lady Irene as she stood up to her parents, were kind to the servants and saved Tess several times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I loved the historical and paranormal aspect, and the romance between Alec and Tess. Definitely a must read!
