Review:-
Lament is a story of forbidden love. Dee is a very shy but musically talented teen, at the preparation of one of her performances she meets a strange and secretive young man, Luke Dillon. They perform a duet together and that's when Luke entered Dee's typical suburban life...that's when things changed and when all things as Dee knew it ended.
This book is very well paced, filled with mystery, romance, action and mythical lore that keeps you wanting more. Top that with Maggie Stiefvater's poetic writing and it's hard to dislike this book.
Dee is a strong and wilful character who made a perfect protagonist. Luke was the tortured hero, the growth of their romance was acceptable and their interaction was sweet, innocent but strong.
As we know, the YA genre has been littered with paranormal books as of late, faerie stories isn't something new. However, due to Stiefvater's ingenious use of mythical lore, and in-depth world creation Lament was a new and very refreshing read.
