Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish
Hi Everyone! I've been really slack with my Top Ten Tuesday post as of late, I would read the topic for the week and struggle to come up with ten so I just wouldn't do the post. This week though, Jen from The Broke & The Bookish only did seven, so I decided that it's ok to not have ten from now on. It's better to participate and come up with less than ten than not participate at all.
I thought that this topic would be slightly difficult because I don't know if anyone else has noticed but most books nowadays are series! There aren't many standalone books anymore, does anyone else agree with me?
Lastly, are there anyone that are clever with the whole HTML coding? I'd like to use threaded comments for my comments, but I'm unable to do so using the Blogger instructions, apparently because of my design, so if someone knows how to to incorporate the threaded comment in my HTML coding I'd love your help!

I've been wanting to read The Night Circus for SO long! But.. I haven't got there yet! Thanks for stopping by TRV! <3

P.s. - I think there has been a "Host" sequel in the works for over 6 years now, so we're not holding our breath :)
Haven't read any of these yet. Between the Lives sounds awesome - will add that to my TBR pile :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these yet! But most of them are on my TBR.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get around to Eleanor & Park soon, as well as The Night Circus.
Great list :)
I really want to read 'Drink, Slay, Love', I've heard so many great things about it! Great list :)
ReplyDeleteYour blog is SO pretty! And I followed you via bloglovin' as well! :D
xo Becca
That's the cover my copy of Rebecca has :D
ReplyDeleteI've still not read Jellicoe Road. I should - I adore Melina Marchetta. But I'm scared. Iv'e heard so many great things. Like... AMAZING things. So I don't want to be disappointed.
Great list! I've loved so many of these books - Like between the lines, the heiresses and Eleanor and PArk. They definitely deserve another book to continue the story!
It would be wonderful if Rebecca had a sequel!
ReplyDeleteAnd I always wonder what happened to Liesel after the events of The Book Thief!
I still really need to read The Night Circus and The Heiresses, I've heard so many good things about them!
I really want to read Eleanor & Park! Everyone has been praising for it. :) Great choices!
ReplyDeleteRebecca and The Book Thief are good choices, I've seen Eleanor & Park on quite a few TTT posts for this week, perhaps I should read it :)
ReplyDeleteOoh such a lovely list! Augh I don't know if I could take more of The Book Thief, I'll be crying so hard.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I forgot the Book Thief, loved that book. It deserves a sequel:) Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteTTT @ Eveline's Books
I also wish there was a sequel to E&P and The Book Thief! Great list!
ReplyDelete-Scott Reads It!
Great List!! I loved The Night Circus and Rebecca is one of my all time favorites. There is a sequel of sorts for Rebecca titled Mrs. de Winter, but it was written by another author...Susan Hill. I haven't read it, but I have had a copy on my bookshelf for YEARS.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these, but I did get halfway through The Book Thief lol. I agree it's hard to come up with 10 sometimes (especially topics like these). But sometimes I just do 5 and that's ok. It's just the participation that counts.
ReplyDeleteI still need to read The Night Circus, but from what I heard it sounds like a book that needs a sequel! Thanks for stopping by my top ten!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about Drink, Slay, Love..that book definitely deserved a sequel, I loved it. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stoppin by my TTT! :)
Ow we share some books on today's list. Not sure if I'd like sequels though for books like The Book Thief, for me the story was pretty much finished. I do wish I could re-experience it again and again for the first time though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by!
I would love a sequel to The Book Thief! What it would be about, I haven't a clue. Great list!

I am sadly in the minority that did not like Eleanor & Park, but I do agree with you on The Book Thief! And I can't wait to read On The Jelicoe Road. I love Melina Marchetta's work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
Yes, don't let that stop you from participating; lots of weeks I can't come up with ten!
ReplyDeleteHappy to see you here.
Pretty sure E&P's sequel would make me cry buckets of tears, but I do want sequels to that and Fangirl anyway. Haha.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Eleanor and Park. I didn't add it to my list because I wasn't sure I loved the Eleanor. I think had we been able to see her more in a safer environment I would have liked her better. And what the heck happens between her and Park? Like really!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these yet. Oh no! Just about all of them are on my TBR, though. They all look so great.
ReplyDeleteI've seen the Secret Lives of Dresses on 2 lists so far- I hadn't actually heard about it until today. What's it about?
ReplyDeleteLOVE The Book Thief! And Eleanor and Park, of course. ;)
Sara at The Page Sage
Eleanor & Park is the only one on your list that I've read and I totally agree it needs a sequel. I loved the ending... but I'd still love to read more about them. Maybe set 10 years down the road or something. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I haven't read any of these but I have heard a lot about Eleanor & Park and The Night Circus.
ReplyDeleteThe Night Circus, YES! I want more of that story, maybe more of a companion than a sequel but I love the author's writing. Thanks for stopping by my post!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I totally agree, I also struggled with this one (which is why I only put 7 in my post). So many YA books are series! Oh my gosh, I totally forgot about The Book Thief! It's an amazing book.
ReplyDeleteYay! We have a couple that overlap! I feel like I have to read Jellicoe Road and The Book Thief, I've seen it mentioned a lot this week. Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteAly @ My Heart Hearts Books
Another magical book like The Night Circus would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT earlier! I actually haven't read any of the ones on your list. I know, I know...several are on my TBR list. The Night Circus, The Book Thief...etc.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about threaded comments, but I do highly recommend Disqus as a commenting system that you can install on your blog. I like it because it emails me when I have a comment, it emails the person who commented when I reply, and for me that allows me to have a better "conversation" with my commenters, which is what I love.
Sandy @ Somewhere Only We Know
Rebecca is a good choice.
ReplyDeleteI've seen Saving June in several lists today, I must read it soon! I've heard wonderful things about Book Thief too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
You have so many on your list that I have been wanting to read forever. I will get to them at some point! Saving June and Jellicoe Road both look awesome, and I own them both, I need to read them already. Thanks for visiting my TTT.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of those. Thanks for stopping buy.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT Top Ten Tuesday
The night circus is one I've looked at on Goodreads before and considered. I think I'd like to read it, I just have a lot of books on my to-read shelf right now. Maybe someday =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
Great list Angelica! I have alot of those on my TBR already- I just haven't gotten to them! I've been seeing Eleanor & Park on quite a few lists today!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros
You have a bunch on your list that I've been meaning to read! Jellicoe Road, The Night Circus, The Heiresses...I'll definitely be checking them out. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI have seen "Eleanor and Park" on so many lists this week. I HAVE TO read this book already!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your sneak peek of next week's TTT topic. I might steal that (if I remember!!)
Gah, I must read The Night Circus!
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I haven't read a Rainbow Rowell book yet?? Even after everyone goes on and on about her books, I still haven't gotten around to it! Ooh and The Night Circus... I've wanted to read that for a long time-- I've heard it's awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, there are SO many series!! Sometimes I really wish for a standalone story. It's impossible to keep up with everything, and discouraging to discover a series that sounds great but has already like 5 thick books out.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, HOW could I forget to include The Night Circus?! Aaaaah! I'd definitely love to revisit that world!
I'm reading The Book Thief at the moment :)
And I've got a copy of Rebecca that used to belong to my grandma, but I haven't started it yet because it's a German translation and I haven't made up my mind about whether I shouldn't better by the original version... Glad to hear it's good enough to want a sequel!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog earlier :)
I'd love to see more in the world of Jellicoe Road!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting back Carmen :D
ReplyDeleteI actually don't mind it so much when I find a series that I like that's already complete, that way I can read it one after another without a break, especially an annoying break where we wait for the last book in the series! That's very frustrating LOL
With The Night Circus, like you said I'd like to revisit that world, the Night Circus' story itself was rounded off nicely so maybe a companion novel more so than a sequel.
I'm envious that your reading The Book Thief, I wish I could re-experience reading it for the first time again, savour it!
How special is that copy of Rebecca! From your Grandmother! Do you know how to read German? No matter what you decide, whether you read Rebecca in English or German, definitely keep that copy, that's like a family heirloom…pass it down generations and hope that you have plenty more generations of readers in your family :D
Don't worry Betty, Eleanor & Park was my first Rainbow Rowell book, and can you believe I didn't even read the synopsis. It was a Read-along book and I just jumped straight into it not even knowing what it was about LOL and I'm so glad I did. I can't wait to read Fangirl :D
ReplyDeleteYou must get to reading The Night Circus, that's a very special world, and every word must be savoured, I cannot wait for Morgenstern's next novel!
Thanks for visiting my blog xoxo
Anya you must! As I've said to Betty above, The Night Circus story, world and characters were just perfect!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog!
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to thank you all for visiting my blog and apologies for not commenting/replying straight back. I cannot seem to get the threaded comments working for the default Blogger commenting system, so alas I've re-installed Disqus again, so I can properly reply to each of the comments I receive.
ReplyDeleteI'm currently trialling Disqus, if anyone else has any other recommendations on a better commenting system, or any thoughts on Disqus I'd love to hear from you all.
Thanks for stopping by EVERYONE!
Nicole, please feel free to "steal" my sneak peek, it was more for me than others LOL so I don't have to keep going back to the Top Ten Tuesday Schedule but lately it's been rare that I participate two weeks in a row cos I can't think of ten things LOL but as I read in someone else's post, it's ok to not get to 10 it's important to just participate ;)
ReplyDeleteBritt you really must read them all, they are all fantastic books!
ReplyDeleteI've currently got a giveaway happening for The Heiresses by Allison Rushby, win a signed and personalised copy!
No problems Jessica, I love reading everyone's Top Ten Tuesday lists :D Yes I didn't realise that Eleanor & Park would be as popular, and some of the books I thought would be more popular wasn't so LOL
ReplyDeleteStephanie The Night Circus is definitely one of those books that you MUST just read, the plot and world creation in that book is really just amazing. I'd be moving it up your TBR pile, you won't regret it ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping right back Whit.
ReplyDeleteLisa thanks for visiting right back. Saving June and Jellicoe Road is amazing, I love Melina Marchetta and I'm wanting to read Hannah Harrington's Speechless soon :D
ReplyDeleteElizabeth The Book Thief and Saving June are such special reads. You really must get to them soon, they are all powerful reads, so definitely have tissues at hand :) Thanks for stopping right back :D
ReplyDeleteSandy I've reinstalled Disqus, thanks for your rec. I previously had Disqus on this blog but I removed it. Do you have a Blogger blog? Do you know how to remove the widget for Disqus but keep Disqus running on my blog? The whole box for the widget is driving me insane!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting right back and commenting about Disqus :)
Michael I didn't think that I'd really enjoy Rebecca but I did, it's definitely a classic :D Is there a companion novel to Rebecca? I thought that there was another book to Rebecca but I wasn't sure.
ReplyDeleteKimberly, maybe even another book created in the world of The Night Circus :D It'd be fantastic and I can't wait till Morgenstern writes another novel, even if it's got nothing to do with The Night Circus, but I suppose for Morgenstern it'd be hard to do better than The Night Circus LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me right back Aly. I see that you've also got Eleanor & Park on your list, I'm taking note on the books that you've got on your list that I haven't read since we seem to have the same taste in books :D
ReplyDeleteHimani don't worry, the important thing is that your participating, I haven't been participating in memes lately esp TTT because most of the time I can't think of ten books/topics etc. but I've just decided that no matter what I'll try and participate even if I only have 5 to list :) See you next week ;)
ReplyDeleteAlise that's what I wrote above, maybe a companion novel is better than a sequel as the story was concluded quite nicely, or maybe on other characters. I've been eagerly awaiting another book from Morgenstern, can't wait till she writes a new novel!
ReplyDeleteKimberly I think that's a fantastic idea, a 10 years down the road :D
ReplyDeleteSara The Secret Lives of Dresses is about a girl that inherits these vintage dresses from her Grandmother, along with said dresses were manuscripts detailing each of the dresses lives. It's a fantastic novel and it maybe because I love dresses too but I found the whole vintage clothes, with each dress having a life of their own really fun to read about :D
ReplyDeleteBeth I actually thought that The Host was written as a first to a series because I didn't feel like the story was rounded off well :( What did you think of the ending?
ReplyDeleteSuzanne when reading Between The Lives book description it doesn't sound like much but Shirvington's writing really delves deep emotionally so have your tissues ready especially at the end ;)
ReplyDeleteChelsea I'm sure you'd love both Eleanor & Park and The Night Circus, I'm yet to find a person in the blogosphere that dislikes either of these novels :D
ReplyDeleteLisa, don't worry just slowly and surely pull through your TBR pile :D You'll get there ;) Try even reading several books at the same time, that way you won't get bored with just reading one novel, I seem to get through so many more books when I'm reading a few at a time. I normally do this when I'm participating in Read-alongs.
ReplyDeleteSara LOL your right about Eleanor, to be honest I think that I love the story and the humour amongst the characters more so than the characters themselves. I do like Eleanor's sarcasm and her dialogue, oh my her dialogue was just hilarious!
ReplyDeleteChristina I've just read E&P someone wrote above that it'd be fantastic to get a sequel 10 years down the track for E&P, I think that's a fantastic idea, but like you I'd really wonder what would happen to them.
ReplyDeleteFangirl is next in my personal TBR pile, can't wait to read it :D
Thanks Deb for visiting, your right it's better to be there than not at all ;)
ReplyDeleteNicole don't worry not everyone will like certain books, there are some books that are everywhere in the blogosphere as everyone's favourite and I don't think much of it LOL it's just individualism ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Melina Marchetta, she's one of my all time favourite Authors :D
Saru I haven't really thought much about WHAT the sequels would be about, all I know is that I want sequels to them, that's the Authors job to think about that LOL
ReplyDeleteCiska, you are right, many of the above books I think I would want companion novels more so than sequels, you know same world or about different characters in the novels.
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you though, I wish I could re-experience The Book Thief for the first time again :D
Petra I actually thought that Drink Slay Love was a sequel but I'm yet to read anything about it being one so I think it's a standalone for now :(
ReplyDeleteNo problems Hollie, The Night Circus is really a must, it's like a Harry Potter book, most if not all love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Harley, love your blog btw :D
ReplyDeleteYeah I've come to that realisation, and it's quite funny most often I struggle with ten but as soon as I start writing my list before you know it I've got more than ten and have to narrow it back down to ten, it's only the initial list writing struggle LOL
Jacque I mentioned that above to Michael, I thought there was a sequel to Rebecca, I'd be scared to read it too in case it doesn't compare to Daphne's writing, I'd hate to wreck the story. What have you heard about Mrs de Winter? Good or bad things?
ReplyDeleteScott/Jon I absolutely love your blog, it's so chic especially the chairs :D
ReplyDeleteNice to see you participating in August ARC too :D
Eveline, thanks for stopping by. Loved your book list :D I'm yet to read some of those series' though :(
ReplyDeleteElena I know, The Book Thief was definitely an emotional read, and I'm not a big cryer when it comes to books LOL
ReplyDeleteSamantha, yes it's a sign that you MUST read it! Or try Fangirl if E&P doesn't call out to you ;)
ReplyDeleteSofia yes E&P is a fantastic read, and I probably wouldn't put huge emphasis on the synopsis because to be honest it doesn't really do the book much justice :(
ReplyDeleteDaisy it seems (if you read on the comments above) that there is a sequel to Rebecca but it isn't written by Daphne du Maurier so I don't know how great it'll be, but I'll be checking it out, it's called Mrs de Winter.
ReplyDeleteI've currently got a giveaway for The Heiresses by Allison Rushby, enter to win a personalised signed copy of The Heiresses :D
Don't be scared to read Jellicoe Road, I actually read it twice straight after the other, it's actually better the second time around :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Becca! If you get this can you pls reply with your blog link so I can follow you right back? It's not giving me profiles since I just changed to Disqus :(
